Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #13 - Florida

The Gators are finally out of the basement… kind of! UF has been at or near the bottom of these rankings for a lot of the year, but the Gators are showing some signs of life here.

Things looked pretty rough for a while for the Gators, but after their pretty decisive victory over UCF and playing Tennessee to the wire, I’m significantly higher on their defense than I was. A unit that looked entirely lost for much of the year is all of a sudden playing much improved football.

Will that manifest in the Gators making a bowl game? The prospect still looks unlikely. Florida, now at 3-3, is staring down the barrel of an extremely tough last six games: Texas, Ole Miss, Georgia, and LSU are all on the docket, not to mention a Kentucky team that knocked off the Rebels earlier this year.

The rivalry game against the Seminoles looks winnable, but finding two more wins on that slate is tough. It’s looking far more possible than it did even a few weeks ago, however.
