Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #10 - Arkansas

I’m still pretty cautious with where exactly I’m ranking the Hogs, but their arrow is firmly pointed upwards at this juncture. A huge home night game against LSU will be an exciting opportunity for Arkansas to snag another top-ten win after their big victory over Tennessee, and it’s really quite doable for Sam Pittman and company.

LSU themselves are coming off of a late-game, dramatic victory over Ole Miss. They’ve shown a susceptibility to the run game, which is where Arkansas excels, so that’s a matchup that’s in the Hogs’ favor.

However, the Tigers excel at passing the ball, which has been a rough spot for the Arkansas defense over the first part of the year. This is one that the Tigers should probably win, but the Razorbacks can make things scary.

From a big-picture perspective, though, the Hogs are looking like they could get to seven or eight wins—with the right breaks—in a year where they were just recently worrying about whether they could make a bowl. That could be good enough to buy Pittman another year, which seemed like long odds previously.
