Power ranking the SEC after week 9: #2 - Texas A&M

This Aggie team just keeps finding ways to win. Mike Elko’s first squad in College Station has been tough-nosed on defense, and though somewhat inconsistent on offense at times, still lead the SEC in conference points per game.

An interesting conversation around the quarterback situation is sure to unfold down the stretch. Marcel Reed gave the Aggies the spark they needed to finish out the game against LSU, but does that mean he has supplanted Weigman as the starter?

Some think this is an unequivocal yes, but it’s tough to say whether that’s the case.I’m sure Elko will be asked at today’s presser, but he’ll likely be circumspect on the issue.

The Aggies now face a stiff challenge in going to Columbia, SC. The Gamecocks have shown that they’re an intimidating defense, but A&M has a defensive unit that can shut down SC in turn. It could be a slugfest, but if A&M emerges with the win, they’re even more firmly in control of the conference.
