Power ranking the SEC after week 9: #15 - Oklahoma

The Sooners move out of the basement in this ranking, but just barely. The OU defense is playing a little bit better than they have the past couple of weeks, but it’s the improvement on offense that is remarkable here.

After weeks of Michael Hawkins, I guess the three straight turnovers against South Carolina was a little over the line for the OU coaching staff, who has now gone back to Jackson Arnold. His passing ability in comparison to Hawkins is clear, and things just look crisper than they did beforehand.

However, they’re still not where they would want to be. When I say the offense looks better, it’s relative to the complete dumpster fire they have been over the last few weeks.

OU will have a bounce back game against Maine this weekend before a decisive game on the road against Missouri. Their final two games are home against Alabama and at LSU, and the outlook doesn’t look great for either of those—meaning that they need to get that win in Columbia if they want to reach a bowl.
