Power ranking the SEC after week 8: 11 - Florida
The Gators have now joined the club of teams that have defeated Mississippi State on a Saturday and fired their head coach the following morning. It's only a club of three, but it's strange that it's even that big, in all honesty.
The long Billy Napier nightmare is finally over for Gator fans, and it's time that a hard reset may be coming to Gainesville. Many of the top players on this team will more than likely not be back next year, including yet not limited to DJ Lagway.
It will be interesting to see how this team responds for the rest of the year with such a tough schedule going forward. They still have to play Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee— but the contests against FSU and Kentucky certainly look winnable. That won't be enough for bowl eligibility, however.
It's a murky road ahead for Florida, but if they are able to poach Lane Kiffin, as the rumor mill currently suggests, they won't want for lack of portal help. If he's been able to do so much in that respect in Oxford, then he will be able to in Gainesville.
