The preseason USA Today Coaches Poll has dropped ahead of the 2025 season, the first one of the fall, and Texas A&M football doesn't exactly feature prominently. The Aggies come in all the way down at 21st, which isn't completely out of the realm of what was expected, but certainly not as highly as many fans consider them right now.

You can't be surprised that this is where the Aggies rank, given the cautious approach that many in the media have taken towards them this offseason— if they have been discussing them at all. Texas A&M has really flown under the radar for the most part this offseason, so it also makes sense on that front that they've been under-discussed.
Texas A&M comes in at 21st overall in preseason Coaches Poll
This puts the Aggies in a particular situation ahead of the season. The Coaches Poll is usually a signal for how the AP will go, and those preseason rankings, like it or not, tend to influence the perception of a given team as the season begins, sometimes shaping fortunes in both positive and negative ways.
If Texas A&M ends up losing to Notre Dame (ranked 5th) in week 3, for example, it's pretty likely that they fall out of the rankings altogether rather than just drop a few spots— such is life when you're down near the bottom of a poll. That would mean the Aggies likely don't get another ranked matchup until mid-October into November, even if they keep winning.
It may be a little unfair, but it's simply how these things go nowadays. In the end, this poll itself may not be the most consequential thing on its own merits, but it shapes perception— and in a sport that is so dependent on perception, the downstream effects matte
