Texas A&M is in the middle of trying to dig out of the massive hole they dug in the first half against South Carolina, and they are currently driving to take the lead. In the midst of what would be a 99-yard drive if the Aggies make it to the end zone, a key player in RB Rueben Owens went down with an injury after a carry.
An awkward tackle from a South Carolina defender looks to be the culprit here, as he desperately closed on Owens to attempt to stop his forward progress. His body swung underneath Rueben as he made the tackle, possibly getting him caught up between his body and the way he should have been going down.
Owens was able to make it of the field after the injury, but Aggie fans are hoping against hope that he'll be able to make it back into the game. With Le'Veon Moss out right now, the Ags can ill afford another hit to their running back depth.
Rueben Owens injury update: Aggie RB goes down with injury after awkward hit against South Carolina
The Aggies have more depth than they did last year, as they still have Amari Daniels, Jamarion Morrow, and a resurgent EJ Smith. None of them possess the game-breaking speed that Owens does, however, so he brings a different aspect that the rest of the guys don't.
In this attempt at making it all the way back, you want the Aggies to be as close to ful lstrength as they can be. Losing Owens is a big deal, so hopefully he can make it back soon.
Of course, in this game so far, it's been the pass game that has made the difference. Carolina has all but shut down the run game for large portions of this one, so Reed's arm will be key down the stretch.
