It was back in 2023 when Texas A&M fans had enough of the Jimbo Fisher experiment. It seemed mutual with Fisher, too. He would constantly rant to his players on the sidelines, and it started to become a liability for the athletes.
Texas A&M would eventually be responsible for the biggest buyout in history, paying Fisher $77.6 million to leave College Station. It was a financial burden, but it was worth it. A&M fans will be getting to see a Fisher this weekend, but not Jimbo.
Samford named their team captains for the Texas A&M game, and the coaches decided to name Jimbo's son, Ethan, as a captain against Texas A&M.
Jimbo Fisher's son will be a captain for Samford against Texas A&M

The Samford coaches appear to know exactly what they're doing here. They decided to make their freshman kicker the captain in the last road game against Texas A&M. There has to be a subliminal message there.
Jake Garner appears to handle most of the kicking duties, as ESPN doesn't even have stats available for Fisher.
Fisher didn't end his time at Texas A&M all that well, but fans shouldn't necessarily make his son pay for that. Fans shouldn't boo him. In terms of scheduling, it's just the way the football gods work. It's also safe to say the Samford coaches definitely took advantage of this opportunity.
It may just be a message, but I won't be surprised if Samford gets an opportunity to put Fisher out there for a field goal attempt or at least an extra point.
In typical Mike Elko fashion, he wants no part of his defense giving up any inches, even against a team like Samford.
Some fans on both sides might've dubbed this the Bucky McMillan game, but now, fans have another reason to get a little more excited for this one.
