Bryce Anderson was just moved off of the field in a stretcher in Texas A&M football's pivotal matchup against Notre Dame after he took a hit to the head on a tackle attempt.
The Irish were driving downfield for an attempted score before halftime after the Aggies took the lead with under a minute and a half to go. CJ Carr delivered to a tight end down the field as A&M defenders converged from the secondary, one of whom was Bryce Anderson.
Anderson was a part of the tackle on the tight end, and upon replay, it didn't look particularly gruesome. However, something was clearly wrong, as Anderson lay down on the ground and did not move. The medical staff immediately headed out to him, and it was quickly evident that this was not something minor.
Texas A&M's Bryce Anderson stretchered off of field after taking hit vs Notre Dame
There is no full update on Anderson's status as he has been taken off of the field on a stretcher, but he did give a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was taken away, so he is conscious and has movement in his arms at the very least.
There was a report that they had to unscrew the face mask of Anderson's helmet in order to take it off, which is usually seen when the medical staff is attempting to stabilize the neck. That much could be precautionary, but there's a chance the injury is severe— clearly, because of having to take him off in a stretcher at all.
We will update this page with more news on this injury to Bryce Anderson whenever it becomes available.
UPDATE: Bryce Anderson has feeling in all of his extremities, but has been taken to a local hospital.
