Scheduling update: Texas A&M's next road game may be in toughest environment yet
Texas A&M football will have to overcome raucous nighttime environment to get a win against South Carolina
Texas A&M football has historically had a lot of success at the final two venues that remain as road games this season. In fact, it wasn't until the Aggies' sixth year in the SEC that they lost in Auburn's Jordan-Hare stadium, and it wasn't until their tenth year in the conference that they fell in South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium.
Of course, that was the most recent time that they visited the Gamecocks, and only the second time that it was a night game. Even so, that poor performance by the Aggies nearly ended in a win, with a kickoff return for a touchdown turning out to be the difference in that one.
It looks like Texas A&M football will once again have to overcome a rowdy evening environment against the Gamecocks this season. The SEC released their television designations for November 2nd, and for the second straight week, the Aggies will be playing at night—only this time, away from Kyle Field.
All the attention is on LSU right now, but it's clear that this won't be an easy game by any means for the Aggies. Carolina is on a bye this week and will be preparing hard in order to do their best to hand the Aggies a second-straight loss in Williams-Brice.
The Gamecock defense has boasted a ferocious pass rush this season to go along with some very physical defensive backs. The Ags will have their work cut out for them in this one.
What I have yet to mention is that the first time the Aggies played the Gamecocks in a night game on the road, they won 48-3. That was in 2020, of course, so the crowd wasn't quite the same—but the Aggies will be hoping for a similar outcome when they roll into Columbia in a couple of weeks.
