Power ranking the SEC after week 8: #5 - LSU

Don’t look now, but the Tigers are all of a sudden winners of six in a row, and are rolling into Kyle Field looking to seize control of the SEC. In what promises to be the biggest game of the weekend, and one of the most consequential of the year, LSU and Texas A&M will square off for pole position in the conference.

The Tigers are coming off of a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks that looked decisive on the scoreboard, but was a little troubling when you look at the metrics. This was a very close game until late, when the Hogs collapsed, and LSU was able to take control.

Still, though, the Tigers keep getting better, especially on defense. They’ve really turned around that unit, even since the beginning of the year, thanks in large part to the play of LB Whit Weeks.

This will be a staunch test for the Tigers, who have not won at Kyle Field since Obama was in office. Brian Kelly is certainly not taking this matchup lightly. A win here vaults the Tigers into the center of the CFP picture—a far cry from where they were a few weeks prior.
