Power ranking the SEC after week 8: #14 - Auburn

The Auburn Tigers continue their aimless drift through the conference slate with another slog of a game against the Missouri Tigers—one which they nearly won, to be fair. But also to be fair, no one playing in or witnessing that game is really that much of a winner.

The last two games between these two programs have been complete snoozefests that nevertheless came down to the wire. Auburn was unable to take advantage of Brady Cook’s absence for the entire middle of this game—not to mention star RB Nate Noel being gone as well.

We saw one explosive play out of Auburn: a long TD pass to Cam Coleman. Other than that, there was not much here that was good. The rush defense looked okay, but much of that had to do with the aforementioned absences on the Missouri side.

Hugh Freeze is on the verge of locking in a losing season on the Plains. After all the promise of last year, this is a poor follow-up. At least the Tigers will get to finally return home to Jordan-Hare soon—they haven’t played a game there since September.
