Power ranking the SEC after week 8: #13 - Arkansas
After showing some promise here recently, the Razorbacks have taken a dive in the rankings. Their potential and ceiling is still considerably higher than I thought at the beginning of the year, but things are looking grave for them right now.
That mostly has to do with their clearly hobbled quarterback. Taylen Green’s ability to run the football is what made him dangerous, and that has all but abandoned him at this point in the season. Ja’Quinden Jackson seems to be dealing with something as well, as he did not look quite as explosive or powerful against LSU.
Still, the Hog defense had the Razorbacks in the game until late, when turnovers reared their ugly head. They held LSU under their season averages for passing and rushing, but just couldn’t get things going when they needed to, resulting in a score that looked to be far more of a blowout than it actually was.
Now, Arkansas needs to be on high alert as they travel to play a suddenly-spunky Mississippi State squad. Starkville is a difficult destination for opponents, and so they’ll have to watch themselves.
