SEC Week 2 power rankings - 3: Texas A&M
The Aggies once again dominated a lesser opponent, though there were a few concerning things happening. Utah State really only had two drives that went anywhere, but lack of discipline on the defensive side led to some penalties that gave the visiting Aggies touchdowns on both.
The dedication to the run was a bit more obvious in this game, and Le’Veon Moss and Rueben Owens both flexed their muscle. KC Concepcion recorded two touchdowns again in this game, both off of great throws from Reed.
The inconsistency needs to be eliminated, however, if the Aggies are going to truly contend for the conference. It’s understandable that they’re rotating a lot of players rather than trying to grind teams into the dust, but there’s still some choppiness going on there.
We’ll find out a lot about this team next week against Notre Dame, who was off this Saturday. Cashius Howell had a record day against USU, so if he can repeat what Rueben Bain did against the Irish, A&M could be in great shape.
