SEC Week 2 power rankings - 1: Georgia

The defending SEC champions didn’t really look the sharpest in an early kick against Austin Peay. The offense for the Bulldogs couldn’t do much against a far less talented team, only putting up 28 points on an FCS squad.

This kind of thing happens to championship contenders from time to time, though. Recall last year that Oregon struggled against Idaho going into the fourth quarter, and then they rolled over the rest of their schedule.

Point being, it’s not as though we know a lot more about the Bulldogs after this one than we did beforehand. There are nits to pick, of course, but until you have true issues exposed by a team that you’re trying your best to defeat, it’s hard to take a lot of meaning out of some of these performances.

Former Aggie Noah Thomas finally recorded a statistic in this one after being shut out in the first game. With the way that Mario Craver and KC Concepcion have looked so far, that’s a bit of schadenfreude for A&M fans.

The Bulldogs head to Knoxville next week in a game that Gameday has already tapped as their destination. We’ll know a lot more about this squad by this time next week.
