SEC Week 2 power rankings - 10: Vanderbilt

It was a gutsy performance for Diego Pavia and company up in Blacksburg this week, as the Commodores had to stage a comeback in order to hand Virginia Tech their second-straight loss to to an SEC team.

They eventually wore down the Hokies, even though they were down a couple of scores, winning by a wide margin. That’s sort of how Vandy with Pavia and company has become: they won’t leap out to huge leads, but they give you a four-quarter game every time.

The Commodores have their self-admittedly most anticipated game of the early part of the season next week when they travel to Columbia, SC to take on the Gamecocks. Carolina absolutely blitzed Vandy last year, and Diego Pavia made no secret of the fact that they were looking forward to taking it to the Gamecocks.

We’ll see whether he can make good on that promise next week. South Carolina certainly didn’t look the sharpest this past week, so they may just be able to.
