SEC schedule makers just handed Texas A&M football yet another unnecessary challenge

For a team hoping to close out the regular season without a loss, Texas A&M football just got a pretty bad draw.

Texas A&M football draws yet another challenge from SEC schedule makers as Aggies set to face Auburn in night game

Texas A&M football is hoping to rebound this weekend after a difficult road loss at South Carolina two weeks ago. The Aggies will have a pretty good opportunity to do so, given that they are facing off with New Mexico State—one of the worst programs in FBS.

The following week, though, the Aggies play their final road game of the regular season when they travel to Auburn, Alabama. The Tigers have had a disappointing year so far, but their advanced metrics show that they are currently a far better team than their 3-6 record suggests.

Aggie fans were hoping that this would be an easy game ahead of the showdown on November 30, but the SEC seems determined to not give the Aggies such a favorable situation. Things aren't helped by the fact that the Ags are missing star RB Le'Veon Moss, of course, but now there's yet another hurdle to conquer.

According to the most recent TV scheduling release, Texas A&M football will be facing off with Auburn in a night game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Just like with South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium, that's not a place you want to play in at night if you're an opposing team.

Now, let's be clear: this is an Aggie team that is better than Auburn. But I still think they're a better team than South Carolina, as well, and that didn't end up mattering when things started spiraling down in Columbia. It's possible, in front of a raucous crowd like the one that will be on hand in Auburn, things similarly spiral for the Aggies on November 23.

Of course, the Tigers have not exactly inspired a whole lot of fan excitement or passion this year, and Hugh Freeze will no doubt have his eyes at least partially on the Alabama game. But for the final home game of the year for Auburn fans, I'd think they're much more apt to show out for a night kick than an earlier one.
