Mike Elko bolstered Texas A&M football immediately upon his arrival. The Aggies had about as bare of a cupboard as regards talent that you will find anywhere across the country, and Elko was able to patch up the holes in the roster expeditiously thanks to his work in the transfer portal.
One of the top additions that Elko made to the roster was former Florida linebacker Scooby Williams. A highly-rated recruit coming out of high school, Williams had an up-and-down career in Gainesville, but he showed out in a big way once he made his way to College Station this past season.
His athleticism and improved tackling (at least, compared to how Gator fans were talking about him) were vital additions to the Aggie defense, and losing him near the end of the season was deleterious for the unit. However, as Mike Elko revealed last night, Williams could have well missed the entire season after an injury early in the year that he nevertheless fought through.

Playing through minor nicks and nacks is one thing, but Mike Elko revealed last night that Scooby Williams is the ultimate warrior. Apparently, on the first defensive drive of the first game of the season, Williams suffered a torn meniscus— and played nearly every game of the season afterwards at a high level!

Wild 😂
Talk about commitment to the team and to the game. If this doesn't show you the level of want-to from one of the Aggies' best players on their defense last year, then I don't know what will.
Looking forward to this season, too, if Williams is healthy the whole time, it stands to reason that fans can expect an even higher level of play out of him. Him accomplishing what he did last year on a torn meniscus should not only give A&M fans a new level of appreciation for such an achievement, but hope for how he can perform this upcoming year.
