Texas A&M football fans are all hoping for a big time leap in the win total from the 2024 season to this upcoming fall. With the Aggies getting to 7 wins by November last year but only managing one down the stretch of the season, it's understandable that there's a feeling of squandered potential from the previous season, and, with some of the weapons that the Aggies are returning, it's not hard to see that this should be an improved squad.
However, such a leap forward is not something that many are predicting them to make, despite a lot of reasons why that should happen. The Aggies retained a lot of key staff members while supplementing them with great new hires, are one of the most experienced teams in the nation, and addressed some problem areas through the portal to great effect.
That's why this latest prediction from JD Pickell of On3 is such a refreshment. Pickell, who has not necessarily been a guy who's high on the Aggies every year (read: he's usually down on them), has predicted A&M to get to that coveted ten-win plateau in the regular season.
JD Pickell predicts Texas A&M football to reach ten wins in regular season in 2025
You can view Pickell's prediction at this link. While the win total may elate Aggie fans, there's a huge catch that will probably deaden the smiles of some.
While Pickell predicts that the Aggies do reach that coveted ten-win mark, he has the Aggies losing to their two biggest rivals in the LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns. Those will both be tough games on the road for A&M, and it's easy to see why he picked them as the hardest spots on the schedule, but that won't sit super well with Aggie fans for obvious reasons.
Even so, 10-2 with a win over Notre Dame could be enough to rocket the Aggies into playoff contention. Maybe they would get a chance to rematch one or both of those teams if that were to come to pass— and on a neutral field, I think A&M would have a far better chance of evening the score.
