There's no question that Texas A&M's pass defense needs to step up their game next season, but one guy who has his spot pretty much on lock in the defensive backfield is star corner Will Lee. The Kansas State transfer is running it back with the Aggies for one final collegiate season, and A&M fans couldn't be happier that he is.
In a season that saw some really tough moments against the pass on the defensive side of the ball, Lee was a bright spot. He lived up to his nickname of "The Blanket," locking down receiver after receiver that he faced week in and week out in the SEC.
There was some chatter early on of Lee ending up with some all-SEC honors, but the relative issues the unit had down the stretch hampered those chances, and he didn't get the distinction he deserved. He's certainly gunning for it this year, however, even if he's being overlooked in the national media.
Texas A&M CB Will Lee calls out snub when left off list of ten CBs to know for upcoming season
Lee is no doubt a guy that any opponent of the Aggies needs to be aware of due to his ability to lock down top receivers. However, Pro Football Focus apparently didn't think it was necessary to add him to their list of players to know at the position— and Lee was quick to call it out.
"This is why I love dis," he said in a post on X that listed corners who fans should know for the upcoming draft, but didn't include his name. Some that did make the cut, however, were South Carolina's Jalon Kilgore, LSU's Mansoor Delane, and Texas's Malik Muhammad.
The Aggies will face off against all three of those teams this year, and Lee will have the chance to show that he's the superior DB in those matchups. He's clearly approaching this challenge with the right attitude, and I can't wait to see him ball out in those big time games.
