Takeaways: Texas A&M's midday nightmare turns into potential championship moment

After the worst first half football this season by No. 3 Texas A&M, the Aggies stormed back down 30-3 to score 28 unanswered and keep its undefeated record unblemished.

Texas A&M vs. South Carolina takeaways: Keep calm, Aggie fans

The social media meltdown happened instantaneously as soon as the hole was dug. Posts about A&M being frauds were being pushed and the Aggie community itself was up in arms about the deficit. While it was deserved for that first half performance, it was also a good reminder to keep calm until the game is over.

Given how the Aggies have played football, it shouldn't have been a big surprise that Elko was going to make season-saving adjustments. However, it's also good to take a quick step back and take in all the facts: A&M was already ahead of schedule, rattling off an unforeseen nine-straight wins (including program-defining road victories against Notre Dame and LSU), a potential Heisman candidate behind center and, most importantly, a shot at both the SEC Championship game and the playoffs

If you were to ask an Aggie fan, much less college football experts, a top-of-the-conference and undefeated A&M team would've not been brought up a lot, if at all. Yes, letting up 30 in a half against one of the bottom teams in the conference is less than ideal but remember: we were never supposed to be in this position.
