Taurean York included as a top 50 player in college football for 2025 per PFF

Texas A&M has at least one player that has made the distinguished list.

Taurean York has been named as the Aggies' first representative on Pro Football Focus's top 50 players in college football, as PFF counts down by ten players each post. York comes in at number 29 on the list, so just barely in the bottom half.

If you had told Texas A&M football fans that the three-star linebacker that they pivoted to after losing out on Anthony Hill in 2023 would one day be considered as a top-50 player in the sport, they'd be ecstatic. However, that is just what has happened— and, to be completely honest, I'm not sure that fans are all that surprised.

York has been the consummate pro in his time in College Station. I think I can probably count on one hand the number of times he's made a wrong read, lacked effort on a play, or failed to step up as a leader of his unit. The Aggies have a great one in York, a guy with all the intangibles.

This is nothing if not a well-deserved honor for York, who is probably the hardest-working guy on this team by a long shot. With the new culture instilled by Elko, that's no small compliment— by all accounts, this is once again a program full of great "locker room guys," but York outdoes them all.

Whether he stays after this year or makes the jump to the NFL, Texas A&M has been lucky to have York on the roster. He's a true classic in this new world of college sports: the consummate team-first guy and leader on defense.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Aggies get one or two more players on this list. Ar'maj Reed-Adams is the primary candidate, but Le'Veon Moss and Cashius Howell are another couple of names with preseason hype. KC Concepcion could slip in there as well, though I'd be surprised if PFF put him in the top 20.
