Texas A&M Aggies' captain was brutal and honest about missed assignments vs UTSA

If there was a game to make these mistakes, it was this one.

It looks like the Texas A&M Aggies' defense already has work to do.

The noise in Kyle Field faded in an instant when Robert Henry Jr. for UTSA ran in a 75-yard touchdown on the first play of the second half. The lead was down to four for the Aggies, and it looked like the halftime speech from Mike Elko was all but forgotten.

But the Aggies' offense exploded, and the new guys, KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, showed fans why Texas A&M made the right move getting those two receivers. Aggies captain Taurean York was about as honest as he could've been when discussing the defensive lapses from the Aggies in Week 1. Just like when Texas A&M played Bowling Green last year, UTSA rose to the challenge to give the Aggies a fight— and York was honest about it.

Taurean York on the run defense against UTSA

"A little bit of sloppiness, that's what happens when you don't play football in nine months, but definitely clean up the second half and we'll clean up throughout practice next week."

"Tempers flare when you give up a 75-yard touchdown in the second half. Dude ran for 16 carries, 177 yards, like, that's ridiculous. That's not our standard. That's not what we stand for."

"I wish we could've got some turnovers. I like how we finished out, and that was our mantra all offseason."
