Here's your Texas A&M Aggies news update for October 19, 2026.
Texas A&M Aggies news: Alabama opening line, portal QB target, and more
Opening line against Alabama
The Aggies have their opening line for the trip to Tuscaloosa, and it is none too friendly-looking. After a couple of smaller lines in their previous two road trips, they're a sizeable underdog at Alabama.
It will be interesting to see how this line tracks. The Aggies have failed to score more than six points in either of their last two road contests, so it's not like recent history is really on their side, but there's also a distinct path that the Aggies can take to come out of this one victorious.
It doesn't seem likely, and you'll probably find plenty of Aggies taking Alabama here, but after the way the Tide have played the last two games, it's not as if they look like the same world-beaters they did after week five. A&M has a puncher's chance here.
Nate Boerkircher's highlight catch
In the early London game yesterday, one Aggie rookie stole the show when he made the highlight play of his career thus far in the NFL. The one-year TE transfer from Nebraska, Nate Boerkircher, pulled this off against the Houston Texans as part of a valiant comeback effort that fell just short.

Nate's selection in the second round by the Jaguars was not exactly met with a warm welcome from the fanbase, but he's done nothing but put his head down and work since that point. He's one of the best blockers on the team already, and if he adds this to his game as a regular feature, he'll quickly turn into a fan favorite.
Of course, Aggie fans have seen this out of Nate before— while this was not a game-winning touchdown, he made a clutch and difficult catch against Notre Dame that many fans think of when they see this play. He's got this in his bag— it's just a matter of consistently putting it out there.
Possible QB portal target
There are plenty of fans already trying to think of who next year's starter at quarterback will be in Aggieland, as most don't think that it is a player currently on the roster. If the Aggies do indeed go to the portal, there's a target emerging that they should heavily consider in Cal's Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele.
Portal QB recruiting can be a dangerous game, as we all learned from the Brendan Sorsby debacle, and it's also something that comes with pretty high stakes. The Aggies have not yet had to search for a high-level starter through the transfer ranks in Mike Elko's tenure, so this will be interesting to watch.
A&M's key to knocking off Alabama
The Aggies have a heck of a road ahead of them down the stretch of the season, and if they are going to make a bowl game, they're going to have to win a couple of games that they aren't favored in. This weekend in Tuscaloosa is a pretty big challenge, of course, but like I said above, there's a path to winning.
A&M showed it a bit in this game against the Citadel: if they get Marcel more involved in the run game, they become a lot harder to defend. Tennessee's blueprint was to play ball-control against the Tide with a heavy dose of runs; A&M can pull that off with their personnel, but they have to utilize Marcel's legs.
