The Texas A&M Aggies get another peek at their potential path ahead. As the days go on, the Aggies are closer than ever to playing for what matters most, a national championship. Texas A&M has put the pieces together to make a real run to Omaha, Nebraska, as they have currently landed themselves the No. 3 seed in the SEC Baseball Tournament.

While you can’t help feeling excited for the Aggies future, they still must take care of business when it matters most, and now they have a better idea of who they will have to take care of business against. D1 Baseball recently released its latest projections for the field of 64, and it seems that the Aggies will have a tough road ahead.

Texas A&M is projected to host its own regional in College Station, but the teams slated to come to town are coming in with a purpose. The Aggies hold the No. 8 seed nationally in the newest rankings and, of course, take the first seed in the region. They are then accompanied by UC Santa Barbara as the two seed, UTSA at the three seed and Lamar at the four seed.

Texas A&M could sneak in under super regional hosting line

These three teams might not be the Goliaths you hear about every day, but they aren’t pushovers. UC Santa Barbara recently clinched a share of its regular-season conference title and is the No. 1 seed in The Big West Tournament. UTSA also recently won its conference’s regular-season title and is looking to continue this momentum into the postseason. Lamar is also having postseason success, as it’s gearing up to take on McNeese in the Southland Conference Championship series.

Then, if the Aggies are truly able to take care of business as they should, they will get the winner out of a loaded group in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in a regional that contains Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, TCU and Illinois-Chicago.

Texas A&M has proved that they are able to take care of business when the going gets tough and have showcased the talent to beat anyone that sits opposite its dugout. Of course, the Aggies must focus their attention currently on the SEC Tournament, where they have a chance to maybe get a boost in their current projection.

The road isn’t solidified yet for the Aggies, but one thing is for sure: they’ll have to be ready to tangle with the best if they want the title of the best.
