Texas A&M baseball defeated Cal Poly in dismal conditions today to take the series with their second victory of the weekend. The Aggies have been moving along in fits and starts at times to begin this year, but you can just tell that this is a seasoned group who knows how to win.
The Aggies' experienced team has won a lot of baseball, especially last year. While the Aggies were competitive two years ago, they really kicked things into high gear last season.
We knew that it was going to be a big year for the Aggies early on, but they proved themselves well when they navigated their entire slate of out-of-conference play without losing a single game. That was impressive enough itself, but a stat disseminated today shows just how unbelievable this run has been.
Texas A&M baseball hasn't lost a single game out of SEC play in close to 2 years
It was Texas A&M baseball's furious College World Series run that cemented things. The Aggies won every single game up until the CWS final, where they lost their last two to the Tennessee Volunteers. That means that the last time the Aggies lost to a non-SEC team was June of 2023, as pointed out by Jake McKeever on X today.
The streak lives on.

The last Non-SEC to beat the Aggies was Stanford all the way back in June of 2023. pic.twitter.com/Jgalfk4qAS
As others have noted, that Stanford team that beat the Aggies, funnily enough, was headlined by Braden Montgomery, who then transferred to the Ags in the offseason.
This really is an unbelievable statistic for the Aggies. To have won every single series since that time would be pretty notable; to not drop a single game, with how fickle baseball can be at times, is eye-popping.
The odds are that, even though this is the number one team in the country for good reason, the streak won't last into SEC play this year. So much could happen; we've already seen less-than-ideal conditions impact the Aggies negatively, a pitcher could have a really off day, the bats could be completely dead.
Because of that, it's time to appreciate these players who have accomplished something unprecedented. This is quite the dominant run, and the Aggies are slated to have yet another huge season in 2025.
