Texas A&M baseball embarrasses Jim Schlossnagle and Texas in ultra gratifying fashion

The Aggies just notched a massive win for their season, their program, and the larger narrative surrounding them.

Texas A&M just knocked off the Texas Longhorns for the second time in two days, this time triumphing by a score of 11-4. The Aggies were dangerously close to run-ruling the no. 2-ranked Longhorns, who have now lost their first SEC series all season— and it came in Blue Bell Park.

That is the most fitting piece of this whole thing, in a very real way. Texas A&M has been looking forward to this moment since late June of 2024, when Jim Schlossnagle was officially announced as the head baseball coach at Texas, and it has unfolded so far just like A&M would have wanted.

The Aggies came in as big underdogs, but they have looked like the far better team up until this point than the Longhorns. Gavin Grahovac has positively been on fire this series, as have been Caden Sorrell and Nico Partida.

Texas A&M absolutely destroys Texas to take home series from Jim Schlossnagle's Longhorns

The scariest part is that the Aggies have been patently dominant against what many were claiming was the best pitching lineup in the country— and they've done it without Chris Hacopian being much of a factor so far at all. Their star transfer and one of their best hitters on the team, Hacopian hasn't added much on the stat sheet through these two games, and yet the Aggies are still absolutely raking.

If he gets going, as he is bound to do sooner or later, it could be absolutely over for the rest of the conference. Texas A&M will have a big challenge in tomorrow's showdown against Dylan Volantis on the mound, but with how hot the lineup is— and the potential that Hacopian brings— things could get ugly for the Longhorns.

This has, of course, triggered a complete meltdown among Texas fans. They thought they would stroll into College Station and come out with an easy sweep, but the Aggies are showing that Earley may have been the right call at coach after all. Texas A&M will go for a sweep of their own in tomorrow's game in Blue Bell, with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM central.
