The offense for Texas A&M baseball has been disappointing so far this year. That honestly feels like too flat of a statement for what we've witnessed; it has been such a horrible letdown for what was expected to be one of the top units in the entire nation that it's difficult to put into words.

This is a team that returned sluggers like Jace LaViolette and Hayden Schott, and added big time bats like Wyatt Henseler and Gavin Kash. Even with the loss of Gavin Grahovac, this is a lineup that should still be dealing at the plate in a much more proficient fashion than we've seen so far this year.

Even despite the pleasant surprise of a guy like Terrence Kiel, Jr, this offense has failed to live up to expectations in a major way. But as I've said several times on this website, baseball is a funny game— sometimes, all you need is a little shift in fortunes to unlock heretofore-insipid potential greatness. And the Aggies may have just gotten a huge boost to those fortunes.

Caden Sorrell reportedly likely to return for Texas A&M baseball's weekend series against Kentucky

One of the best bats in the lineup for the Aggies, Caden Sorrell, has been missing since the beginning of the year with an injury. This is an absence that has stretched longer than anyone anticipated, but according to Texags reporter Ryan Brauninger, it looks like Sorrell may finally be back in the saddle as soon as this weekend.

Could this be the spark that the Aggies need in order to turn around what has been the most disappointing season in recent memory? A&M baseball fans sure hope so.

The fact is, though, that we won't know until a bit later. Sorrell should provide some help, sure, but there's no telling how long it will take him to work back from his injury in earnest. If he's in tip-top shape immediately, that would be great— but that's not really realistic.

Still, though, this could disturb the waters just enough in just the right way. Sorrell's return is a welcome one— here's hoping it turns the Aggies' season around.
