Texas A&M baseball is in search of a major bounce back season this upcoming spring after an extremely disappointing 2025 under first-year head coach Mike Earley. The former Texas A&M hitting coach returned to Aggieland following Jim Schlossnagle's defection to Austin, but despite a no. 1 national preseason ranking, the Aggies failed to make the NCAA tournament.
Losing Jace LaViolette off of that team won't help the Aggies in their quest to improve results, as he has been one of the best players in the nation for his entire collegiate tenure. However, there are a number of other studs that the Aggies still have— and the media is giving them their due in the preseason for the most part.
Caden Sorrell and transfer slugger Chris Hacopian were both tabbed as preseason all-Americans by D1Baseball, as well they should have been. While these were well-deserved honors, there was one major snub on this list that Aggie fans immediately noticed.
Texas A&M baseball lands two players as preseason all-Americans, but there's one glaring omission
Though Jace LaViolette is departing the Aggies for the major leagues, the return of Gavin Grahovac from injury could replace his production nicely. Missing the entirety of last season cost the team pretty dearly, as his production as a freshman was through the roof.
Grahovac is one of the best players in college baseball, but he was not given the recognition he deserves on this preseason all-American list. You understand that to a degree given that he was not out there on the diamond for most of last year, but when you know how good he is, it's a bit of a head-scratcher.
I'd be surprised if Grahovac, barring another injury, isn't named as an all-American by season's end. Hacopian and Sorrell are great hitters in their own right, but I have a feeling Grahovac will announce his return in a major way this season— showing just how wrong this snub was.
