Texas A&M basketball moves into 2-seed territory after jumping to 8 spot in AP poll
Texas A&M basketball has been putting together a fantastic stretch lately. After a disheartening road loss to their rivals, the Aggies have faced down some significant challenges, knocking off Missouri in their latest escapade.
Though the Tigers aren't exactly a blue-blood in college basketball, that was no easy feat. Mizzou had been undefeated at home before that game, and the Aggies had to overcome some serious adversity in order to emerge with the win.
It's just the latest in an impressive line of victories for the Aggies— victories that have seen them come back from huge deficits in certain cases. The road win over a ranked Ole Miss team saw the Aggies fight back against a double-digit hole and a rabid crowd to take the dub.
After an early-season stumble without Wade Taylor, the Aggies are getting back on track as they get healthier. Their resume continues to shape up as one of the most impressive in the entire nation— and that's getting recognized by the poll voters.
The Aggies jumped up into legit two-seed territory with this latest poll, as they are now ranked 8th in the nation.
BREAKING: College Basketball AP Poll🚨
— On3 (@On3sports) February 10, 2025
First Place Votes: Auburn (34), Alabama (23), Florida (3), Tennessee (1)https://t.co/r0nuBzTJA9 pic.twitter.com/4dQPIqk1yo
This is the highest ranking for the Aggies since 2017. The Ags can continue to climb, too, as they play the current no. 1, no. 3, and no. 5 before the season is done.
A&M fans are no doubt happy with this ranking, but a little incensed that they are directly behind Purdue, who they beat in what was essentially a road game. Things will shake out, but it doesn't make much sense for the Aggies to be ranked behind the Boilermakers right now, especially given that they have the same record.
