It's been nothing but win after win for Bucky McMillan, as he just snagged a big man from the transfer portal that will make Texas fans go bananas.
With Pharrel Payne moving on with Buzz Williams to Maryland, he just got some much needed help for the Aggies to continue their dominance on the offensive board. With Jamie Vinson IV answering the transfer portal a few days ago, he decided to set off a media storm in South Texas by transferring to Texas A&M.
Vinson is a 6-foot-11 freshman who didn't get a whole lot of playing time in Austin, but he will look to take an upward leap for his sophomore season. Texas A&M fans didn't wait too long to point out the excitement of getting a Longhorn from the portal.
Aggie basketball media and fans react to Vinson IV signing
Texas A&M basketball has a history of having guys that have a repeated pattern, only hoping that Vinson can live up to those names.
New A&M big man Jamie Vinson is actually Jamie Vinson IV. The record books had better look out, because the first two IVs (Acie Law, Wade Taylor) weren't too shabby.

It'll be an uphill battle for the incoming sophomore, as his play on the floor has been very minimal at UT. As the former No. 11 player in the Lone Star State, the big man can be a force in the paint and has a good shooting ceiling.
This makes sense given Frank Haith’s relationship & need at 5.

Jamie Vinson didn’t get much time with the Longhorns, but if you go back to his film from Oak Hill, he’s a guy who can step out and knock down shots from 3P, gives you length around the rim, and can run.
Good get. https://t.co/wpS4bo9T6L
Aggie fans have been getting familiar with Tom Hart lately calling so many Aggie games recently. One fan went as far to joke about the ESPN announcer about the Vinson IV move.
Wait but @tom_hart said only A&M players want to play for Texas

It almost seems like players these days aren't ashamed to transfer to rival schools. As something that still seems uncommon today was extremely rare just a few years ago.
I don’t get how they players can transfer to their arch rivals school, and I know we have players who left temu for us I don’t understand it

Overall, this is a great pickup for the Aggies, especially since it comes at their rival's expense.
