Texas A&M basketball looks to be staying in the top 25—for now.
They held off the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a 57-44 victory in the SEC-ACC Challenge.
The Aggies showed why they are the among the top 25 college teams, but the way they're doing it is a great sign for the team.
Texas A&M basketball can win however they want
This is something that few teams can say.
With Houston basketball just a few years ago, the Cougars designed themselves off of defense and hustle. Now, they have grown to be one of the more consistent offensive teams in the nation while still maintaining Kelvin Sampson's philosophy.
With Texas A&M playing a tough and rough style against Wake Forest, they can control the game and the pace in their own way.
In a back and forth offensive showdown, expect the Aggies to be in that fight. If they have to play more rugged and ugly in a low scoring battle, they can control that game too.
The game was ugly for Texas A&M turning the ball over 18 times, they made up for it with strong defense and rebounding. Like in the Creighton game, A&M outrebounded Wake Forest 43-33. Wake Forest also didn't shoot the ball well, only shooting for 28 percent in the game.
Both teams shot even worse from the beyond the arc. The Aggies shot for 23 percent and Wake Forest shot for 21 percent.
Both teams found it difficult to find any rhythm offensively, but guys like Andersson Garcia overcame that by doing the small things.
"I'm just an energy guy, you know. If you see me running from the bench to the table, everything starts right there" Garcia said.
Garcia had five points, 16 rebounds, three steals and a block. If Wade Taylor or Zhuric Phelps have an off night, it's not the end of the world, because they know their hustle can get them through on most nights.
