Texas A&M basketball has been on a tear in this recent stretch of non-conference games.
Against Creighton, the bigs for the Aggies held Ryan Kalkbrenner to single digits in points. This is the same Creighton that has been in national news this week for once again getting a victory against No. 1 team on their home floor. That's a pretty good early resume for the Aggies.
After their win against Rutgers, the Aggies won big against Wake Forest, and then just defeated Texas Tech in a back-and-forth second half battle.
The Aggies are showing just why they should be peaking at the perfect time.
Aggie basketball peaking early at right time
This is an early test for the Aggies and they are passing pretty well.
Even when Andersson Garcia, arguably the player of the game in a sloppy victory against Wake Forest, fouled out in the win against Texas Tech, the Aggies had the depth to complete the victory.
This would lead to more minutes for Henry Coleman III and Jace Carter.
This was Carter's day putting up 16 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Solomon Washington looked aggressive on offense; he got eight points along with nine rebounds. This is a very good sign against their next opponent in which the big men positions will be looked at very closely.
Their next test will be against another non-conference opponent in a neutral site—even though the venue won't be very neutral at all.
Texas A&M will face Purdue at the 2024 Indy Classic on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. CT on CBS.
This is one of the games of the year for both the Aggies and the Boilermakers.
The Aggies are coming in with incredible big man depth. Without Zach Edey, it'll be interesting to see how the Boilermakers answer against the ferocious big men of Texas A&M.
With Purdue coming off a bad loss against Penn State, on the other end, Texas A&M is peaking early at the perfect time.
There's no doubt this will be a strong early test for both sides in this one.
