Texas A&M basketball proves nation wrong in March Madness win over Yale
Texas A&M basketball just took down their first-round opponent in the Yale Bulldogs. The Aggiees, who were a four-seed in the March Madness bracket, were able to overcome the Ivy League champions tonight in their matchup in Denver.
That shouldn't really be all that unexpected, of course. Usually, the four seed beats the thirteen seed. But there were some undercurrents here that made this result rather notable, not only in College Station, but the larger college-basketball-watching public.

It's not really terribly tough to see why the Aggies were picked by so many to get upset in round one. The Ags had an unceremonious exit from the SEC tournament in an emotional double-overtime loss to Texas.
On top of that, the Aggies looked like they had a really poor draw. The Ags have not defended the three-point line very well at all, and that was the area in which the Bulldogs excelled the most. Things looked like they were shaping up to be a disaster for the Aggies, which would be quite the disappointing end to what has really been a great season.
But this Aggie team just continues to prove people wrong. They played like they were the underdog, rather than the Bulldogs, and took it to their opponents in a huge way.
Despite the manifold upset picks by college basketball casuals and big names, the Aggies were able to weather the storm. They didn't just weather it, actually: they took home an emphatic win.
