The Texas A&M Aggies are looking to start SEC play on a strong note at home.

In what's arguably the best conference in college basketball this year, the Lone Star Showdown on the hardwood is about to start some fireworks come Saturday night.

Buzz Williams: Players are 'excited in some degree'

Buzz Williams and some of the players caught up with the media ahead of the Lone Star Showdown.

It seems Williams' team can already feel the high stakes of an early SEC rivalry game on their own hardwood.

"I think they're excited to some degree that it's Texas, I think to some degree that it's the first one. "

Of course, this will be seen as a potential revenge game from the football field back in late November.

Texas is still a somewhat solid team, but they'll have to endure the loss of outstanding guard Max Abmas, who's now with the Utah Jazz.

Williams talked about the ability to have to get better at defensive rebounding, and that will have to start against Texas.

Henry Coleman III talked about how it doesn't take much to get the feel of the rivalry. He said he talked to the SEC commissioner in the Spring meeting about how much rivalries matter.

"I think you take it for granted that they're a ton of kids that want to be in that position and would want to walk out there, they don't even have to get into the game. Just to be out there on that floor, see a crowd have somebody cheering behind you, I think is really special. "

Both the Longhorns and the Aggies will likely play in front of a full crowd at Reed Arena on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
