Texas A&M basketball fans were well aware coming into the season that this had the chance to be one of the best Aggie teams to ever take the court. A&M is loaded with upperclassman talent and guys who have been in Buzz's system for quite some time, as well as a couple of transfers who have fit right in.

In fact, they fit in much better than anyone could have anticipated, making this team even that much better than most fans thought. The Aggies, when at full strength for an entire game, have lost exactly once this season— to Oregon, early on in the year.

The Ags have put together one of the best resumes in the entire country through this point in the season, with much more opportunity ahead of them. It's for this reason that they may achieve an unexpected and glorious mark this year.

Texas A&M basketball firmly in contention for no. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament

As college basketball reporter John Rothstein said on X earlier today, the Aggies are in play for a no. 1 seed come March Madness time.

It won't be an easy road, though. The Ags have already played Alabama, but they have Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida all still on the schedule. Luckily, two of those are home games, but the Ags will have to work hard to even win two out of those three.

If they win all three, this becomes an eminently possibility. The Aggies already have one of the most impressive resumes in the entire nation, and wins like these would cap it off in an absolutely massive way.

The Aggies currently sit on the two-line as of Joe Lunardi's most recent Bracketology, so they are extremely close here. Some more carnage ahead of them in the standings would certainly help out a lot, but if the Ags simply take care of business down the stretch, they'll have a legitimate shot at this distinction.
