Texas A&M basketball continues to prove themselves even as other teams around them falter, and it could pay off in a completely unprecedented way.

There's been a lot of talk lately about Texas A&M basketball potentially making their way up to the two-seed line for the NCAA tournament by the time that all is said and done. The Aggies have been stringing together key win after key win— something they've had a lot of opportunity to do in a completely loaded SEC.

This most recent win over the Georgia Bulldogs, one which saw the Aggies put together an unbelievable 22-0 run in the second half, looks like it's opening a lot of eyes around the country. The Aggies are more and more being discussed as one of the top teams in the entire nation, despite the tough row they have to hoe in conference play.

With what they've accomplished so far, though, the Aggies— at least by one metric— have done enough to earn the elusive one-seed in the NCAA tournament. Kelley Ford of KFordRatings complied a most deserving rankings of the teams in college basketball, and the Aggies just barely edged out the Tennessee Volunteers for the four-spot.

The Aggies have three huge games left that will determine a lot about their season: at home against Auburn, on the road at Florida, and at home against Tennessee. A 2-1 mark there could make this a pretty real conversation; and at least as far as this ranking goes, the Aggies could end up being favored over the Vols when that time comes.

For now, though, the Aggies need to focus on what's in front of them: a scrappy Arkansas team this weekend looking to punch their own ticket to the Big Dance, followed by a Mississippi State team that is also looking to cement their place in the NCAA Tourney. Clear those two hurdles, and you set up a potential top-5 showdown with the Vols in Reed Arena— and from there, anything is possible.
