When you think of Texas A&M football players in the NFL, you think of Myles Garrett. The former star defensive end for the Aggies, playing in College Station from 2014-2016, has blossomed into an even bigger star on the NFL stage, justifying well his first-overall selection by the Cleveland Browns in his draft year.
Garrett is not the only megastar to come out of Texas A&M in recent memory, of course. Von Miller was one of the most impactful edge rushers in his day, winning a super bowl MVP, and Mike Evans has embodied consistency itself in his 1,000 yard seasons down in Tampa Bay.
You can't leave those guys out of these discussions, of course, but Garrett is head and shoulders above the rest in this arena. His peak has been a bit obscured thanks to his franchise toiling in mediocrity— a fact which nearly made him jump ship this offseason before they offered him a massive contract— but that peak has been one matched by very few players in the history of the sport.
In that vein, it's no surprise that Garrett enters this season once again ranked as the top edge defender in the league.
Myles Garrett ranked as top edge defender in NFL, continuing to display A&M's NFL star power
Edge rusher is a premier position in the NFL, probably second only to quarterback— though corner and receiver are getting more attention now than they ever have. Fittingly, locking down a top player at this position is a big time priority for every team, and there's none better at that spot than Texas Aggie Myles Garrett.

Garrett earning this distinction is well-deserved, as he continues to be a problem no opposing offensive coordinator can solve. He has grown leaps and bounds in his game even since making the jump to the NFL, and it's worth recognizing.
Myles will no doubt continue to tear it up in the league for years to come. Right now, he's on top of his game, and that's something we all as football fans should appreciate.
