Texas A&M has already got plenty of good news to begin their week, including re-signing their center, Mark Nabou Jr., and grabbing WR Isaiah Horton, DTs Angelo McCullom and CJ Mims. The Aggies just got the answer they needed about one of their veterans on defense.

One of the familiar faces on defense, DJ Hicks, is coming back to Texas A&M. The Aggies haven't wasted any time getting deep in the portal and getting what they need. Hicks has totaled 50+ tackles and 5.5 sacks with the Aggies.

The hiring of Elijah Robinson as the defensive tackles coach has proven to be the difference maker for this offseason. Mike Elko is making moves, but Robinson has been a key part of a boatload of key talent coming to College Station.

The DT position is pretty much set. McCullom and Mims come in as established DTs as is, and having Hicks come back is just another cherry on top.

The impact of Robinson is underrated. He has a history of producing talent from his first stint back a few years ago. He was the defensive line coach from 2018-2021 and brought the Aggies to the ninth-best defense nationally in 2020. He added to that resume by having the whole defensive line in the NFL by 2021.

There have been plenty of heartbreaking losses to the squad, but Elko specializes in the key players returning, and Hicks definitely qualifies as one of them. Not to forget, the Aggies already picked up Brandon Davis-Swain from Colorado.

The next position to prioritize is another pass rusher and another offensive lineman. If Elko can do that, the Ags should be set.
