The news broke Wednesday morning that Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein would leave Aggieland to coach at his alma mater, Kansas State.
In Manhattan, Klein was a phenomenal quarterback and put himself in the Heisman trophy race with Johnny Manziel and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. It's not hard to understand why he would leave. Becoming a college football head coach at your alma mater is the goal. Until then, A&M fans still have something to root for.
Billy Liucci from TexAgs says Klein will stay to coach the team in the College Football Playoff. A huge development that these fans needed after the gut punch from the morning announcement.
Collin Klein expected to stay on with Texas A&M through College Football Playoff run
And since it's now top of mind for everyone, a well-placed source has told me that Klein will continue to run the Aggie offense and call plays throughout the College Football Playoff.

The Aggies need a bounce back after the Texas loss, and it's safe to say they will have a chance to do so on their home field. This is a last opportunity to finish the job and make before heading to Manhattan.
The updated SP+ rankings for ESPN have Texas A&M as the eighth-best offense in college football this year. Some have the Aggies at fourth, but either way, Klein has opened the door for this Aggies offense to go places.
He's been a mastermind in developing Marcel Reed to new heights, and the run game has the Aggies developing a strong four-man committee, assuming Le'Veon Moss takes the field. Not to mention, he's also taken the Aggies to an 11-1 regular season, something fans haven't seen in decades.
Fans should be grateful for the work that Klein did to put this team in a position for a national championship. That legend will only grow stronger for the Texas A&M offense. This is not a step in the wrong direction at all for Texas A&M.
Kudos to Klein for this opportunity. After all, he deserves it. He was a hot name around the country, and Kansas State is getting a good one.
