Texas A&M fans just had the worst bye week possible— but they just need to win

This was disappointing to see, but it will all work out if the Aggies just keep winning.

Texas A&M fans had a list of teams that they wanted to see win while they were on their bye this weekend, but every single game went the opposite way. As November begins, the Aggies are one of the frontrunners for a spot in the SEC Championship game, and if they keep winning they'll make it in— but you have to start thinking about contingency plans as well.

Both Vanderbilt and Texas came into their game with only one conference loss, but the Aggies wanted to see the Commodores take home the victory. That obviously didn't happen, despite a huge fourth-quarter comeback, which means that Texas will head into their final three games with still only one conference loss on their record.

Of course, the Aggies control their own destiny with regards to that, as they will have a chance to trounce the Longhorns in the final game of the year, so that could end up being irrelevant as well. Still, you'd like a spot to be clinched ahead of that game rather than depending on it.

The afternoon slate saw Florida push Georgia to the limits, but a controversial incomplete call at the end of the game doomed the Gators, as the Bulldogs ended up winning. UGA will have to lose one of their final two conference games (Mississippi State and Texas) to give the Aggies some breathing room, but that doesn't seem all that likely.

In the evening slate, the Ole Miss Rebels dispatched with the South Carolina Gamecocks, keeping them at only one conference loss. The Oklahoma Sooners went into Neyland and came out with a victory after turning the Vols over three times in the first half.

Both of these results were opposite of what Aggie fans wanted; the Rebs could tie with A&M in the standings if the Ags lose one more, but with OU beating Tennessee, it will strengthen the Rebels' case in a tiebreaker scenario given that they played the Sooners but not the Vols.

All of this could be made irrelevant if the Aggies just keep winning, and maybe this will help spur them on to do just that. Take care of business, and you'll be fine— but the margins are growing thinner.
