Bucky McMillan and Texas A&M Basketball just went to Tampa and absolutely dominated the Florida State Seminoles, 95-59. This was the Aggies' first win over a power conference opponent this season, and the first of the Bucky McMillan era.
The Aggies didn't just have great shooting, the rebounding finally showed up in a big way. The Aggies outrebounded FSU 60-40. They were led on the glass by Rasaun Agee with 17 boards. Zach Clemence had himself 8 boards as well.
Texas A&M blows the doors off of Florida State in completely unexpected blowout
The offense shined once again for the Aggies today as well. Four Aggies scored in double figures, led by Ruben Dominguez with 21 points. Rashaun Agee had 17 points himself along with his 17 rebounds. Pop Issacs had a season-high 15 points, and Mackenzie Mgbako has his second straight game scoring 10 or more points. The major pieces of this team are finally starting to come together and take over games.
The Aggie defense also stepped up in a big way today. They forced 16 turnovers and held FSU to shooting 29% from the field and only 22% from beyond the arc. Perimeter defense has been a big issue for this team, and they did a fantastic job in that department today.
The Seminoles fall to 5-2 on the season as the Aggies improve to 6-2 on the season. The Aggies next big test comes Tuesday night on the road at Pittsburgh as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge. Check back on Monday for my full preview of Tuesday night's matchup.
