Texas A&M football registers verbal pledge from massive DT Jermaine Kinsler; Aggies flip momentum after two decommitments earlier in week

Recruiting news had Texas A&M football fans down in the dumps earlier this week. The Aggies, who had put together a highly-ranked class up until that point in the 2026 cycle, lost two pledges in one day when Xavier Tiller and Ryan Gilbert both decided to back off of their verbal commitments.

Tiller was a guy that it would have always been tough for the Aggies to hold onto, given that he is an out-of-state guy without much in the way of solid relationships in College Station as of yet. All accounts are that Auburn is making a big push in that one, which likely led to his reconsidering of his verbal to the Ags.

Gilbert is a lower-rated and in-state prospect, so it's possible that one was a little more mutual. He had been showing interest in some other schools lately, notching visits to several different locations, and the Aggies are clearly looking around at defensive back, so this parting of ways isn't entirely unexpected.

Even so, losing two commits in one day is never great. A&M fans needed some positive news— and they just got it.

Jermaine Kinsler, a DT out of New Jersey, just announced his commitment to Texas A&M football. Standing at a looming 6'7" and 270 LBs, his sheer size is reminiscent of a guy like Jayden Peevy, one of the best stories of a recruit developing in the Aggie program in recent memory.

He joins Trashawn Ruffin and Jordan Carter as defensive line commits in this upcoming class. He cuts a different frame than either of those guys, obviously, with his massive size being something this Aggie staff can leverage well. He has the ability to add a lot of good weight as well, which could make him an absolute monster on the inside.

This is a great note to lift Aggie recruiting spirits after some bad news earlier in the week. Welcome to Aggieland, Jermaine!
