Texas A&M football climbing the ranks in preseason SEC power rankings after spring

Texas A&M football's additions have apparently been enough to help them jump up in these preseason SEC power rankings.

Texas A&M football's staff did a great job of addressing the most pressing needs of this team through the portal. Despite the Micah Hudson debacle that has now resulted in him transferring back to Texas Tech, the Ags still were able to bring in a good bit of talent to buttress a receiver room that wasn't up to snuff last year.

The other big area in which the Aggies made some strides was the defensive line. Given the dearth of offensive linemen available in the spring game, it's hard to judge accurately, but it sure looked like the defensive linemen that the Aggies brought in were playing with a heck of a lot of ferocity at the end of spring.

That's a good thing, too, as the Ags are losing three of their four starters along the defensive front for next year. Bringing in those guys may turn out to be even more consequential than the significant additions that were made out wide when it's all said and done.

Key transfer portal additions cause Texas A&M to rise in post-spring SEC Power Rankings

It's because of these additions, presumably, that the Aggies have continued to climb in SEC Mike's preseason power rankings for the conference:

The Aggies are only behind two teams that are actually on their schedule for the upcoming year, which is a good sign given the unfavorable home/road splits that A&M will be dealing with in 2025. The ranking of Texas at number one, as well, is likely due to faith in Arch Manning, which is a faith that has increasingly questionable ground after how Texas fared with their last perfectly-rated QB recruit.

LSU's bringing back Garrett Nussmeier will no doubt prove to be key for them as well, even though their receiver corps will have a lot of turnover (of course, so will A&M's). That's a game early on that I have as the Aggies' toughest on the schedule for next year, especially considering how things went in Kyle Field last season.

The Aggies can make some real noise in the SEC this year. The team will have to come together in a big way, and some transfers will have to find their place quickly, but this team has potential to be spec
