Texas A&M football adds 2026 4-star TE Caleb Tafua out of Lakewood, CA
Texas A&M football is on a real roll in the 2026 class. The Aggies started off the cycle with some prospects that they considered pretty underrated from the state of Texas— Ryan Gilbert and Markel Ford— but they've been stacking some nationally recognized talent since then.
The latest add to this group is TE Caleb Tafua of Lakewood, CA. Ranked as a top-250 prospect in the nation, Tafua is just a shade outside of the top 10 of all TEs in the nation. He joins what is now the 2nd-ranked class in the country.
Tafua bolsters what is shaping up to be an elite tight end class in 2026, as the Aggies already have top-100 prospect Xavier Tiller out of Georgia in the fold for that cycle. With the way Klein likes to use the tight end position in his offense, this is a big time pickup for the Aggies.
The thought was that Tafua was headed for Washington, who was also in his top four, but the Aggies swooped in and snagged this important commitment right out from under the Huskies' nose.
This continues what has been an impressive trend for Mike Elko's staff: picking up big time prospects from the West Coast. Of course, that strategy has its risks, as we saw with the flip of Husan Longstreet, but the Aggies look to have found something in the aggregate with their trips out west.
Tafua is another big piece in this 2026 class that could challenge for a top-3 spot in the nation when all is said and done. The Ags are still leaders on two top-10 prospects in Lamar Brown and Brandon Arrington, and they're in on even more five stars. Here's hoping the Ags close the deal with some more top names soon.
