Texas A&M's recruiting hot streak should be well known to fans of college football at this point. The Aggies are absolutely cleaning up on the trail right now, landing top prospect after top prospect as their class has rocketed all the way up to the second overall rank in the entire nation.

This ascent has taken place in the 2026 cycle, where Mike Elko and his staff have been working tirelessly for some time now. Their relationship-building efforts are beginning to pay off in the excellent slate of talent that they're bringing in now, and it looks like that will only continue.

Though the Aggies have been casting a wide net for their 2026 class, landing prospects from across the nation in what has been a rather down year in the state of Texas, they are ready to hit the Lone Star State hard in the 2027 cycle. The rising junior class is filled with talent in Texas and across the nation, and the Ags may be about to lock down a class ringleader.

The Aggies haven't been afraid to raid the Peach State for talent in this cycle, and it looks like they are intent on heading back there in the upcoming cycle as well. One of the best quarterbacks in the nation will be announcing his commitment soon, and the Aggies are high on his list:

Texas A&M will be competing with Mississippi State, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida State for Johnson's commitment. Texas A&M has shown a penchant for locking down quarterback commits early on in the cycle, but we saw how that came back to bite them with Husan Longstreet.

Still, though, there's something to be said for snagging a QB as one of your first pledges. That's the position a lot of other guys look to when evaluating where they want to end up, and so if the Aggies can get a good one locked in, it could snowball.
