Texas A&M football fans are chuckling as Garrett Nussmeier announces return to school

The only people happier than LSU fans that their QB is coming back are Texas A&M football fans.

Texas A&M football fans have to be laughing as LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier announces return to school

Texas A&M football has now twice reaped the benefits of a big recruiting flip that had nothing to do with them.

When now-Michigan signee Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan, I am not sure that many people were thinking about how it would be good news for the Aggies. Yet, here we are.

The first thing that it did for Texas A&M football was bring them a quarterback commit for their 2025 class. After Husan Longstreet swapped his verbal pledge from the Aggies to the Southern California Trojans, A&M was in dire need of a signal caller; they were able to flip Michigan commit Brady Hart and bring him into the fold as a result of the Wolverines going all-in on Underwood.

Now, a second blessing has come down for Aggie fans, as LSU— who clearly were assuming for much of the cycle that they would be bringing Underwood on as a freshman with their current QB headed for the NFL— began a push to bring back Garrett Nussmeier for one more year.

Today, that push appears to have paid off.

Why, exactly is this good news for Aggie fans? Did you watch the Ags play LSU this season?

Nussmeier kindly furnished the Aggies with two game-changing interceptions that, aided by the advent of Marcel Reed, gave A&M the game. From then on, no. 13 in purple and gold looked nothing like the QB he was in the first half of the season.

This may seem like a victory for the Tigers, but Nussmeier has shown that he can be pressured into bad decisions; in fact, the Aggies made that happen several times in their game against him this season. Without their pair of star tackles, I foresee them doing the same thing again, in even greater measure, this upcoming year... Death Valley or no.
