Texas A&M football elects to hold spring game, sets date
Texas A&M football fans well know just how quickly things change in college football. Just because something seems to be a staple in the sport to fans doesn't mean it will continue to be that way into the future.
So many seeming pillars of college football have fallen by the wayside recently, for better and for worse. And given recent trends, it has looked a lot like the annual spring game would be the next on the chopping block.
Teams such as Nebraska and Alabama have elected to not hold spring games. Even Texas has blanched at the prospect, saying that they simply played too many games last season.
Amidst this trend, though, the Aggies have chosen to go against the grain. Texas A&M football will indeed hold a spring game this season, as they have scheduled it for April 19 at 2 PM according to the Bryan-College Station Eagle.
Texas A&M football has some important dates set:

This has to come as a big relief to a lot of Texas A&M football fans, as the annual spring game is always a treat for the Maroon and White faithful. What would spring ball be without overreaction to a walk-on safety making an interception? Way too many breakdowns of Marcel Reed's positioning of his feet on run vs. pass calls? Heck, even how the receivers look in the offense?
Yes, overanalysis of the spring game is certainly a tradition— and a fun one at that. So even though it may be something that makes more sense tactically in the future, I'm glad the Aggies didn't choose to eliminate their spring game this year.
