Texas loses to Ohio State; Trolling begins to flow in from Texas A&M football fans
In last night's semifinal matchup between Texas and Ohio State, most had the Buckeyes chosen as the clear favorite headed into the game. They looked the part for the first quarter before Texas gained some ground; when all was said and done, though, the Buckeyes emerged with a win that was pretty dominant, boasting a postgame win expectancy of 99%.
There was a chance for the Longhorns to tie the game in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, but a terrible toss play call from Steve Sarkisian led to a seven-yard loss after the Horns had been at the one-yard line.
Then, on fourth and goal, Jack Sawyer happened.
If you listen closely, you can hear Texas A&M football fans cackling in the background as Sawyer returns this for a score. And if you were on X, you saw the shenanigans begin to kick up to 11.
At that point, the story was all but written— unless Quinn Ewers could somehow pull off a miracle.
Oh. Whoops. Well, in any case, it's a fitting end to his career in burnt orange.
That loss, of course, ends the season for the Longhorns, who will be moving on from Ewers to Arch Manning next year. They are also set to lose some other key pieces, including most of their offensive line, some of their top defensive linemen, Jahdae Barron, Andrew Mukuba, and others.
In other words, that might have been their best chance for a while to make it to the national championship. And so the frivolity continued from Texas A&M fans on social media.
It's the last graphic which is the funniest, in my opinion.
