Grading, impact of Texas A&M football portal additions: Which new Aggies will make the most noise?
This winter portal cycle has all but wrapped up for Texas A&M football, and the Aggies have quite a haul. This staff did a great job of addressing needs, even though there have been some twists and turns to this window.
The staff got a great mix of positional value, but they also got a great mix of potential and proven production. The Aggies brought in quite a few guys who could see the field next season.
Who is the most likely to make noise for the Aggies, though? Who will we see on the field in 2025? Let's grade the impact of each player.
Grading and impact of Texas A&M football's transfer portal additions: TE Amari Niblack
Niblack was the third pickup at the position in the class for Texas A&M football. A super high-upside player, the Aggies poached him from their in-state rival after he spent only a year in Austin.
His first two years, though, were spent under Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, where he saw a lot more action than he did under Sark. Now, it's still pretty minimal relatively speaking, but his athletic gifts are unquestioned.
Niblack's biggest question mark is as a blocker. Both Texas and Alabama fans have commented on his lack of willingness in that department, which is an important caveat for a position like TE, without a doubt.
However, even if Niblack essentially plays as a big slot WR in College Station, he could still make a significant impact. Having a player with this kind of frame and athleticism as a red zone weapon, for example, could make a big difference inside the 20.
